Summer Updates

Attention Parents:  Please remember to check the Principal’s Blog for upcoming events and deadlines for the 2018-2019 School Year.  As an effort to keep our families informed we will be posting frequent updates to the Blog during the summer months.

CMS Alternate Contact Number

Recently, the school district has had periodic internet and phone outages.  When such outages occur we have an emergency phone number that parents can utilize to communicate with the middle school office. 

The emergency number will only be monitored by the middle school office when outages occur.  This number should not be used on a daily basis.

D.C. Medication Turn In Deadline today (5/10/18)

Today is the deadline for turn in of medications (over the counter and prescription) for 8th grade students to attend the Washington D.C. trip next week.  If you still need to submit medication, please drop it off by 3:00 pm today (5/10/18), or call the school nurse, Dawn Delomoro, at 330.302.0203.  It is critical to the safety of our students that medications are packaged and ready to go prior to the weekend.  Thank you for your understanding.  

 

7th Grade Students Making a Positive Impact at CMS

The 7th grade green team students have been working hard in class and on their own time competing and earning points for our school through an online program called Clever Crazes. As a result of their hard work, we won grant funds! The money was used to purchase a water bottle filling station that will provide filtered, cold water to anyone in our building. Clever Crazes was discovered at a science conference we attended in January. The program focuses on health, fitness, science, economics, government, and other 7th grade level concepts. The green team students earned enough funds to purchase reusable water bottles for the team, as well as, the water bottle filling station. The bottle filling station is located in the center of our building on the 2nd floor at top of steps.

Incoming 6th Grade Students, Welcome to CMS!

The middle school staff is eager to get to know our incoming 6th graders for the 2018-2019 school year.  The middle school staff has been in communication over the past couple of months with elementary staff about the students.  The discussions have been important in allowing middle school teachers to get to know individual students and their needs, as well as, develop a plan to ease the fears of the students in the transition year.  

The middle school will host multiple opportunities for students and parents to be introduced to the middle school staff and explore the building prior to summer to ease any anxiety as we approach next school year.

On May 11th middle school administration and the counselor will visit the entire 5th grade. We will introduce ourselves, explain our roles, and review somethings about our building that are different than the elementary school.  

On May 23rd the middle school will host our Spring Open House from 6-7 PM.  Both students and parents are invited to attend. There will be a presentation by administration to open the evening, followed by time to tour the building.  Information about the Spring Open House will sent home soon.

In addition to these two dates, there will be other dates when smaller groups of students will visit the middle school during the school day.  If your child is part of these visits you will be notified.

Cedar Point Music Festival

Who:  8th Grade Band

When:  Saturday May 12th, 2018

Times:  Call ti;me is 6:15am sharp at CHS Band room will return at CHS at 11:30pm.

Where:  Performance is at Sandusky H.S. at 9:15am.  Non-chaperones are also welcome                   to attend the performance.  Sandusky H.S. address – 2130A Hayes Avenue                               Sandusky, Ohio 44870.

Wear:  Concert Dress, Bring your “park cloths” with you in a bag (shirt, pants/shorts,                       tennis shoes) to change at the park.  NOTE: It can get cooler near the lake/after s                 sunset, so check the weather.

Provided:  Linch and a $10.00 per diem for dinner.

Bring:  Snack for the bus, sunscreen, $ for a souvenir/snack if you would like.
