Cloverleaf Local Schools will be hosting David Frattare, of the Internet Crimes Against Children division of the FBI to share with parents the most up to date trends and concerns that are impacting children in the world of social media.
The event will take place at Cloverleaf Elementary School in the Cafeteria on January 15th . The presentation will start at 6 PM and will last approximately an hour.
The world of social media and the accessibility of devices has changed just about everything in the way we communicate and interact with others. The immediate connections through apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, as well as, the anxiety of getting “Likes” and comments on posts has created a very challenging environment for children.
Cloverleaf Local Schools wants to provide an opportunity for parents to get to know what apps children are using, which ones should be of concern to parents, how to monitor behaviors on apps/devices for healthy use, and other internet safety information. I cannot stress enough to families the importance of being proactive in managing your child’s use of social media. Once a child posts something about them selves or others, or shares personal information with strangers online it is near impossible to retract.
This is a parents only event. I encourage parents from elementary schools through high school attend this presentation. It may very well keep your child from making the same mistakes other children have made and had to learn a hard lesson from.
We look forward to seeing many parents on January 15th at 6 PM at Cloverleaf Elementary School!
