The middle school has made adjustments to our grading policy due to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. The significant disruption has forced the school and district to make some changes to how we will be reporting/calculation grades and averages for the 4th quarter and year end final grades. I will provide a brief explanation below. In addition, I am also providing a link to a simplified chart to help communicate the changes.
4th Quarter:
- Teachers will assign and grade work for students for the duration of the 4th quarter. Student work will be graded in a traditional manner and recorded in Progress Book (percentage based). At the conclusion of the quarter, teachers will use the percentage that your child has earn to classify their 4th quarter grade into one of three categories.
- O=Outstanding (Grade equivalent A/B)
- S=Satisfactory (Grade equivalent C/D)
- U=Unsatisfactory (Grade equivalent F)
Year End Final Grade:
- The Year end final grade will be determined by averaging the first three quarter grades.
If your Child is taking Algebra or Geometry for high school credit the grade calculation is a bit different. Your child will have a choice of two options since high school credit is involved. Your child will simply inform the teacher of which option the prefer. What is shared below is consistent with the high school grading policy.
